Watkins Glen International is a blisteringly fast, intimidating track characterized by incredibly high grip levels and sweeping corners enclosed immediately by its iconic blue guardrails. The terrifying, uphill "Esses" test a car's high-speed aerodynamic stability and driver bravery, while the heavy braking into the Inner Loop (Bus Stop chicane) provides the best overtaking opportunity on the circuit.
Because the track is so fast, maintaining momentum is critical. Drivers must carry massive, seemingly impossible speed through the heavily cambered, sweeping corners of "The Boot" section. Even a slight lift of the throttle in these high-speed zones will result in losing multiple tenths of a second down the subsequent straights.
